Carved first in wax and cast by the lost-wax method in recycled sterling silver, no two coins are exactly alike. The fir branch is hand-carved and set apart from the blackened sterling ground with 23.5K gold laid on by hand using Keum-boo, a centuries-old technique that fuses fine gold to silver under heat and pressure. The coin's edge is left in the irregular shape of its wax carving, rounded but never uniform.
