The stirrup ring is a medieval form — architectural, built to be worn. This version is cast in sterling silver using the lost wax method, then finished with 23.5K gold applied through Keum-boo: an ancient gilding technique in which gold is thermally bonded to silver at the molecular level. It does not peel. It does not fade. Two metals, one surface, held together by heat and pressure.
At the center, a rose-cut garnet. The rose cut dates to the 16th century — faceted flat across the top, domed below, designed to catch candlelight.
