The heart is open at its center, and a cross is set within it. Devotional hearts like this have long carried the bonds people keep close: love that holds through difficulty, faith, and the people we carry with us. The cross marks the heart as claimed.
It is hand carved in wax and cast in solid sterling silver, with 23.5K gold applied by hand using Keum-boo, an ancient Korean gilding technique. Heat and pressure bond the gold permanently to the silver, so it won't wear away like plating.
At 15mm it is small enough to layer with other charms, or wear it alone as a quiet token of someone held close.
