Black absorbs everything. It gives nothing back. That is the point.

The cross is one of the oldest marks a human hand has made — carved into bone, pressed into clay, cut into stone before anyone agreed on what it meant. It predates the traditions that adopted it. At its root it is geometry: the intersection of two axes, the point where all directions converge. A location. A decision. A stance.

The black diamond does not perform. It does not catch light the way a white stone does — scattering it, broadcasting it, asking to be noticed. It holds the light. Keeps it. In older traditions, black stones were carried as shields — worn not to be seen but to absorb what should not reach the wearer. Protection through opacity. Strength through stillness.

Five black diamonds set into the arms of the cross. One at center, 3.5mm — the anchor. Four at the cardinal points, 1.75mm each — the reach. Each one chosen for depth of color, placed by hand.

Cast in sterling silver using the lost-wax method, then finished with 23K gold through Keum-boo — an ancient Korean gilding technique that bonds gold directly to silver through heat and pressure, without adhesives or plating. The gold does not coat the surface. It becomes it. Each stone is hand-set, one at a time.
