Amethyst has been found in burial sites going back twenty thousand years. In ancient Greece, it was carved into drinking vessels under the belief that it prevented intoxication — not just from wine, but from the kind of thinking that clouds judgment, inflames the ego, and makes a person mistake noise for signal. It was the stone of the clear mind.

For centuries it was reserved for royalty and clergy — not for decoration, but because people who needed to make consequential decisions in uncertain circumstances believed it helped them do so. The Victorians wore it in mourning. Tibetan monks used it in meditation practices focused on opening rather than shutting out.

The Oculus collection takes its name from the eye — the aperture through which light enters, focus sharpens, and what was obscured becomes known. Each ring in this collection is designed as a scrying stone: something worn close, returned to often, a lens for the interior life.

Cast in sterling silver using the lost-wax method, then finished with 23K gold applied by hand through Keum-boo — an ancient Korean gilding technique that bonds gold directly to silver through heat and pressure, without adhesives or plating. The result is permanent, luminous, and built to outlast the occasion.
