Yaga's Cabinet — Mourning Dove Foot Pendant with Tsavorite Garnet
Product Details
This one came to the maker directly.
A mourning dove foot, found on her own rooftop — ethically, without seeking it. Preserved in a hand-wrapping sterling silver setting that holds the bone intact. Nothing obscured. What you see is what it is.
Set with a 5mm tsavorite garnet — green grossular garnet, rarer than emerald, harder than emerald, with a color that reads almost impossible at this saturation. First documented in Kenya in the late 1960s and consistently ranked among the finest green stones available. Against bone and silver it doesn't look placed — it looks like it was always there.
The mourning dove is a bird of passage in nearly every tradition that paid attention to birds. Not peace, specifically — threshold. Something crossed. Baba Yaga, the bone-keeper and threshold guardian of Slavic folklore, holds exactly this kind of object in her cabinet: signs that arrived uninvited, materials that accumulated meaning before anyone assigned it to them.
This pendant is one of those objects.
One of a kind. This bone, this stone, this exact configuration — when it's gone, it's gone.
Materials: Ethically found mourning dove foot, recycled sterling silver, natural tsavorite garnet (5mm) Pendant: Approx. 2.5 in × 0.5 in Chain: 20-inch sterling silver — oxidized or bright finish Made in Brooklyn
